How to color and add highlights yourself when you have dark Hair and want lighter hair?

I have dark brown hair, I would like to have a light brown hair with caramel and blonde highlights, without having red tints. Any ideas of which brands and color i should use? Like Jessica Alba hairstyle when it was lighter. Here's an example of what i'm looking for
